Initial Intelligence

It is obvious that whatever quality we have has a genetic origin. So, intelligence has to have a genetic origin too. Once we are conceived, there is nothing we can do to change what we were given. However, just like nobody becomes an athlete without physical exercise, no body becomes intelligent without mental exercise. Academic performance, though, is only a very small part of intelligent development. We are all aware of people who were very poor students, yet they become very successful later in life. How does that happen? Simply pay attention when you meet any of those people. You will notice that they analyze everything all the time. They pay close attention to whatever is important to them. They understand how they analyze situations. And they learn from every situation and from other people‘s situations. Therefore, to teach intelligence to children, we must teach them to understand how they think, to develop their own strategies, to find their own solutions to problems, to observe other people's problem solving skills and learn from them, and (most importantly) to break down, digest, and integrate (put together) information.
